Upgrading of Waste Regeneration Process machines in Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) landfill Daibe

No. NOFI/LV06/AK/02/9
26.05.2015. - 25.03.2016.
Total Project costs - 483 129 EUR

Objective of the Project - the project the company will establish new technological solutions to ensure a more energy-efficient preparation of unsorted municipal waste for landfill and separately collected sorted waste regeneration in order to increase volume of re-usable resource regain and to reduce energy consumption per unit of output.

The Activities – during project implementation it is planned to deliver and install new technological equipment for MSW pre-treatment and manual sorting line for secondary raw materials. Two new machines will be installed: MSW bag opener system and baling press for sorted waste which will be integrated into company’s technological process of waste regeneration. This will result in expanding the operational capacity, increasing of the recycled secondary raw material assortment and volume, as well as reducing the consumption of primary energy resources.

Result of the Project - project implementation will reduce environmental impact of the waste recycling process and will increase the assortment and volume of recycled secondary raw materials.

Project financing sources – the Norwegian Financial Mechanism EUR 153 495, Government Finance EUR 17 055. Own resources of the project applicant (ZAAO) EUR 312 579

The project 'Modernization of the equipment of CSA Daibe waste recovery process' benefits from a EUR 153 495 grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants and Norway Grants. The aim of the Green Industry innovation program is to increaase the competitiveness of green enterprises, including greening of existing industries, green innovation and green entrepreneurship.

About Project Development

MSW Landfill 'Daibe' Establishes Four New Manual Sorting Working Stations

18.10.2015

On 16t October 2015 in MSW landfill 'Daibe' recyclable material recycling station, four new manual sorting working stations were put into operation. New working stations make the re-sorting of the source separated waste regrading process more efficient. Recovery of a greater volume of recyclable fractions will be achieved with one sorting process cycle and will reduce the time and energy for one output production unit.

As a result of the public procurement process, equipment was supplied and installed by SIA Jāņarāmis. Total costs of equipment supply and installation were 39 893  EUR (excluding VAT). 40% of the eligible costs are financed from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. Closing of the project is planned on 25 March 2016.

The project CSA Daibe 'Waste recovery process equipment modernization' is being implemented through a 153,495  EUR grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norwegian Financial Mechanism programme 'Innovation in green production to support innovative environmental technologies, services, product development and implementation'. SIA ZAAO Puts a New Recyclable Material Baling Press into Operation

23.11.2015

On 10 November 2015 in MSW landfill Daibe recyclable material recycling station, a new waste sorted baling press RIKO EKOS S-60KVA was put into operation. The new baling press is an important improvement in the waste recovery technological process. It will ensure an uninterrupted and energy efficient waste sorting process.

Compared to the equipment used so far the new baling press will provide greater compression capacity with greater specific pressing pressure, lower relative power and oil consumption.

As a result of public procurement, the equipment was supplied and installed by SIA ECOTECHNO. Total costs of equipment supply and installation were 205 279.50 EUR (excluding VAT). 40% of the eligible project costs are financed from the Norwegian Financial Instrument. Implementation of the project will continue. Closing of the project is planned in 25 March 2016.
